We Reached Our Goal!

We were recently informed by the Wayne County Community Foundation that we have exceed our goal of $100,000.  We have raised $100, 431.29!.  The City of Wooster made their first request of $40,000 to help defray the expenses from this past summer.  Thank you to all of our donors and all of the members of the Friends of Christmas Run Pool who worked hard to achieve this goal.

Closing in on Our Goal

The Christmas Run Pool Fund is nearing its goal of raising $100,000.  It currently stands at $93,000.  We need your help to raise that last $7,000.  We are also working to develop some projects to spruce up the pool.  We are currently making presentations in an effort to be awarded the Joint Service Club Project (Kiwanis Club of Wooster, Wooster Rotary, and Lions Club).  Voting will occur on The Daily Record web site in the near future.  The recipient will be announce on Oct. 4, 2010.  The award includes $2,000 toward the recipient’s project as well as labor from all three groups.

Block Party July 9

Join us for the Friends of Christmas Run Pool Block Party.  Dine alfresco at El Rancho Grande and 150 West or get some ice cream provided by the Parlor Restaurant.  10% of the bill will be donated to the Friends of Christmas Run Pool Fund.  Also other downtown businesses such as the Wooster Book Co., Ride On Bicycles, and Walnut Street Gallery and others will have booths set up in the 100 block of W. Liberty St.  There also will be music as well as caricature and portrait artists on hand.  There will be guest servers such as Mayor Breneman and Congressman Boccieri participating.  Also, Calla Lily Yarn and Gifts and the Gallery in the Vault will contribute a portion of their sales all day on Fri., July 9 to the pool fund.

We are within $10,000 of our goal please help us achieve it.

What a Celebration! Help us Reach our Goal

We had a great day on Sunday.  Check out the Daily Record article.  We appreciate that Mayor Breneman was such a good sport.  The rain stayed away and we had lots of popcorn and snow cones.  The games were a big hit.  While we are getting closer to our goal we still need your support.  If you have been wanting to make a contribution but haven’t yet now is the time.  Contribution information can be found in the right-hand column.

Big Day at Christmas Run Pool!

We need your help.  We are closing in on our new $10,000 challenge match.  Help us meet it as we head toward our goal of $100,000.  Every donation counts.

Join us for the celebration of the opening of Christmas Run Pool!  On Sun., June 6, Christmas Run Pool will open for the summer.  Admission will be free and there will be live music,  free popcorn, snow cones, games and drawings for door prizes for the children.  The pool opens at noon and we will have a brief ceremony at 12:45 p.m. to acknowledge how far we have come so far.  We will also be accepting donations toward the pool fund.

Come See Us at Kids Day

We will be set up with information and fun at Kids Day on the square in downtown Wooster next Sat., June 5, 1-4 p.m.  Stop by and see us.

Big News!!

The Wooster community has helped us meet the Rose Family Charitable Fund matching challenge of $25,000!  The fund now exceeds $68,000.  Don’t worry if you didn’t get your contribution in for the match.  Two donors have offered a new matching challenge of $10,000 to be met by July 4.  You can still send in contributions to the Wayne County Community Foundation (see right-hand column).

Looking for another way to help the fund?  We have some opportunities coming up in the next several weeks.  On Sat., May 22, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. there is a rummage sale at the Eagles Lodge (231 Beall Ave.).  Proceeds from the sale will go toward the pool fund.  I hear they have received lots of items for the sale.  Need a kids bike?  How about a small freezer?  These are just a couple of the items available.

On Tues., May 25, 4-9 p.m. join us at Applebee’s for a community night.  You need to bring in one of the flyers and present it to them when you order.  A portion of the bill will be donated to the pool fund.

On Sat., June 5 join us on the square for Kids Day.  Last but not least come and celebrate with us at Christmas Run Pool on opening day Sun., June 6 beginning at Noon.

Upcoming Events for the Pool Fund

We have several events coming up in the next couple of weeks. Join us today, Mon., May 10 at Mike’s Dugout on Benden Dr. They are donating a portion of every pasta meal ordered today toward the pool fund. They are open 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

We have two other dining out dates. On Sun., May 16, 4-9 p.m. take one of our flyers (Links of Interest at the right here) in and they will donate a portion of the proceeds to the pool fund. Also, on Tues., May 25, 4-9 p.m. Applebee’s is also have a fund raising night for us. Once again, you need to take a flyer (also under Links of Interest) in for us to get credit.

Last but not least, the Eagles Auxiliary will be holding a rummage sale on Sat., May 22, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge (231 Beall Ave.). You can contribute in two ways: 1) you can donate items by dropping them off at the Eagles lodge after 3 p.m., Mon.-Sat. 2) you can come out an purchase items at the sale.

Vote for Christmas Run Pool!

On Tues., May 4 (Primary Election Day) vote for Christmas Run Pool by eating at CiCi’s Pizza 3786 Burbank Rd. (near Lowe’s). Between 5 and 8 p.m. we will be busing tables. Cici’s will donate 10% of receipts (dropped in the jar near the register) to the Christmas Run Pool Fund. You have to eat anyway, why not help the pool at the same time.
